Norwich City transfer news: Jacob Wright on loan arrival

Norwich City new boy Jacob Wright says Carrow Road is the perfect next step for him for a number of reasons.

Wright completed an initial loan switch from Manchester City in a late transfer deadline day deal, moving to

Norfolk on a contract that could become permanent if the Canaries take up their option in the summer.

The 19-year-old was convinced to sign for Norwich by a multitude of factors, and feels that he’ll slot seamlessly

into head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup’s project.

“It was an eventful one, a stressful one, but I’m really happy to be here, really happy to get everything over the line

in time,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting into training and the games coming thick and fast.

“I sat down with my family and we spoke about it. We watched a lot of footage on them and did our research. We

saw the style of football, the way they like to play, the manager. It’s a young squad with a bit of experience in there.

“I think I’m going to fit right in. It suits my style of play and they breed players who go onto big things, they make

professional players. That’s what I want to be, I want to find my way in the game, and hopefully this is the right

step for me.”

Wright will be helped along by the presence of two of his former colleagues in the Norwich dressing room, with

familiar faces to lean on while he gets to know the squad.

“I spoke to Callum (Doyle) a little bit,” he continued, speaking to official club channels. “We’ve grown up together,

we actually moved to City at the same time from Liverpool when we were younger. We’ve definitely known each

other for a while, and I look forward to seeing him.

“I know Kellen Fisher as well, I’ve played internationally with him. So it’ll be good to catch up with him and get to

know some of the other lads as well.”
