Details of bargain deal emerge as Birmingham City snap up Sheffield United prospect

By their recent standards, Birmingham City’s winter transfer window was rather quiet. After a busy summer, BCFC concentrated on strengthening where it could and providing opportunities for periphery players to depart. There wasn’t much that needed to be done to the team over the winter because the Blues had already made significant investments and had entirely redesigned their roster before the season began.

Nonetheless, there was room for a few first-team players, and an academy-level late signing was also made. Kurtis Havenhand, a striker for Sheffield United, was acquired by the Blues ahead of schedule, and his arrival was announced on Tuesday. The Star has now shed light on the agreement reached between the Blades and Birmingham City.

They state that Havenhand moved to St. Andrew’s for free and that there was no transfer charge. He had a contract with Sheffield United, but they decided to let him go in order to join BCFC.

Although he has the opportunity to stay until 2026, Havenhand has committed to the Blues through the completion of the current campaign.

Getting an extension

Havenhand, who left Sheffield United for Birmingham City, will be keen to get back to his best and show the Blues that he is worthy of a longer stay. He has until the end of the current campaign to demonstrate that he deserves the activation of his extension option; after that, the emphasis will shift to securing a long-term, professional contract with the team.

Although the 19-year-old has shown promise in the Blades youth, a transfer to another team would be beneficial given Bramall Lane’s abundance of attacking skill. Havenhand will be excited to follow in the BCFC academy’s illustrious history of producing elite prospects.Birmingham City’s first team is participating in the EFL Trophy this week in an attempt to make use of their large roster.

On Tuesday night, they go to Stevenage in an attempt to advance to the semifinals. This weekend, they will take on Premier League powerhouse Newcastle United in another domestic competition. The Magpies travel to St. Andrew’s from St. James’ Park. As City balances cup competitions with their pursuit of the League One championship, a spot in the FA Cup fifth round is on the line.
