Ambulance called to woman ‘spiked’ during club’s closing party

Police and ambulances were called to a nightclub in Chippenham after a woman was allegedly spiked.

The event occurred at approximately 1.20 a.m. on Sunday, February 2, at the closing party for E11evns nightclub in Chippenham.

Police officers conducting nighttime patrols claim they were notified to a woman who “appeared to be intoxicated” and was “reporting that she had been spiked.”

Concerns about the woman’s health prompted the dispatch of ambulances to the location.

“Our colleagues in the ambulance service provided medical assistance as a precaution, and she was safely transported home,” said a Wiltshire Police spokesperson.

“We are investigating the incident and would like to hear from anyone with information. Please contact us at 101 and quote log 180.”

“We take all reports of spiking seriously and would urge anyone who believes they have been a victim to contact us immediately on 999 and seek medical help.”
A family member of the woman took to social media to urge other young people in Chippenham to be cautious.

“The cup was issued without a lid and was held all night,” explained the family member.

“It became clear that the lady in question had been drugged.

“The ambulance was called, and they were fantastic; the cops were also very nice and helpful.

“Please be cautious, stay with your friends and demand cups with lids on.”

The E11evn nightclub in Chippenham has now closed to the public, after declaring on January 23 that it will be closing permanently.

A video from the night of the alleged spiking was posted on the club’s Facebook page with the description ‘the end’ and showed patrons dancing to My Way as the nightclub hosted its final celebration.

Speaking before to the closure, a club representative described the last week in business as a “emotional rollercoaster.”

A spokeswoman for Club E11evn earlier stated that the difficult choice to close was made due to the downturn of the nighttime economy and changes in client patterns during the pandemic.

“A spokesperson said: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Club E11evn, a late-night institution that has served as a cornerstone of nightlife in Chippenham for two decades.

“Saturday, February 1 marks the final night for E11evn, a decision driven by rising operational costs and a decline in the late-night economy within Chippenham.”
