Wolves make a last-minute “record bid” for Nottingham Forest’s target.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the process of negotiating a big deadline-day acquisition.
Red Star Belgrade defender Nasser Djiga is apparently the target of Wolves’ deadline-day bid.

After acquiring Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims for £16.6 million earlier in the transfer season, Vitor Pereira is keen to strengthen the defense by adding depth and talent at center-back.

Djiga has become a late target after playing every minute available for Red Star in the team’s eight Champions League games this season. The eight-time Burkino Faso international might leave quickly in a big move, even if he only paid £2.5 million to join the Serbian Super Liga team in the summer.

Ben Jacobs, a correspondent for Give Me Sport, has reported that Wolves have formally submitted a bid of €12 million (£10 million) to sign Djiga, according to Serbian daily Mozzart Sport. According to the Mozzart Sport article, Red Star received a record bid, which is referred to as a historic occasion for the team.

Although negotiations are advanced, it is unclear if Wolves’ bid will be approved. Pereira has approved the transfer to proceed, and it is anticipated that a solution may be found by the deadline of 11 p.m. tonight.

The Old Gold shouldn’t become overconfident with their move, though, since Djiga is being pursued by Nottingham Forest, another Premier League team. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is reportedly eager to spend money on a long-term substitute for Murillo, who has been connected to several elite European teams.

Tottenham Hotspur snatched the Austrian international from RC Lens, and Wolves will be desperate to avoid a recurrence of the Kevin Danso story. Even though a physical was scheduled and a complete agreement was signed for Danso to join on loan, Spurs quickly stepped in to sign him.
