Nottingham Forest hold Reading FC transfer talks with loan-back deal possible
This season has been difficult for Reading both on and off the field, but Bindon has been a bright spot throughout difficult times and has grown into one of their best players over the past 18 months.
Despite his youth, the New Zealand youth international has been a reliable starter since making his Royals debut in August 2023 and made 40 league appearances the previous season.
This time around, Reading’s performance has much improved, and since the team is currently in seventh position in the third division and Bindon has started every league game thus far, it is not surprising that a Premier League team like Forest is interested in hiring him.
The Reds reportedly discussed a deal on Deadline Day for Royals player Bindon to join on a permanent basis; however, any possible move would require the center-back to return to the Madejski Stadium on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath.
Both clubs would benefit from a move with that kind of structure, as Reading would be able to keep him for at least the next few months and have time to get ready to sign a replacement in the summer transfer window, while Forest would be getting a player who is highly regarded in League One but not quite ready for the top tier of Premier League football.

They will be happy that they appear to be able to get a fee for Bindon’s services before he would have been free to depart on a move in the summer, since his contract with the Royals expires at the conclusion of this term as well.
The 20-year-old will appeal to Forest before a potential move because he has been a consistent player in League One for about 18 months and has already led the team in addition to playing regularly for New Zealand on the international stage.
He is obviously destined to play at a much higher level than he does now, and following his spectacular victory over Mansfield Town last month, Royals head coach Noel Hunt lavished praise on his performances and attitude as a young player.
“I’m not surprised, but you might be. The child is amazing. He is unsure of his current level of proficiency and his future potential. His character is extremely charming, and he is the cutest boy.
