Blackburn Rovers close to sealing transfer swoop for 28-year-old

Blackburn Rovers are close to signing Braga left-back Yuri Ribeiro.

Record reports that a transfer may be revealed soon.

Ribeiro, 28, has played for Nottingham Forest in England and Legia Warsaw in Poland, in addition to Portugal. He played for Forest from 2019 to 2021, but he may be disappointed not to have been a part of the club’s promotion-winning 2021/22 season.

Blackburn are interested in signing him, which might provide him with another opportunity to prove his worth in England.

Rovers have made three additions during the January window, including loan signing Dion Sanderson from Birmingham City.

Augustus Kargbo completed a permanent move to Ewood Park on Friday, while Adam Forshaw arrived from Plymouth Argyle the following day.

All three appear to be on track to make significant contributions between now and the end of the season, but John Eustace’s side still has work to do before the window closes in order to finish in the top six.

Ribeiro is rumoured to be leaving Braga and joining Blackburn, per Record.

The agreement has not been made official at this time, but negotiations between the two sides are “practically over” for a loan move, which might be revealed in the coming hours.

He appears to be heading back to England, where he previously played for Forest until being released in the summer of 2021.

Blackburn Rovers could benefit from Yuri Ribeiro deal

Owen Beck is an excellent option at left-back, and he has demonstrated his abilities on multiple occasions this season.

However, with Harry Pickering presently out of action, it makes sense for the Lancashire club to look for another left back.

Ribeiro, who should be in the prime of his career right now, has previous Championship experience and might be a great match for Rovers.

It may not cost Blackburn much to sign him either, given that he will be joining on loan.

And it appears to be a low-risk deal with big potential benefits, making this addition seem like a no-brainer.
