Reading FC’s Supporters Trust (STAR) has confirmed that they had communicated with the club ahead of a monthly update on the takeover process.
The Royals fans have endured a painful takeover process that has lasted well over a year since Dai Yongge revealed his intention to sell the club.
However, at this time, no acquisition bid appears to be close to completion, and the club is struggling to obtain short-term financing.
A statement issued by STAR on X reads: “On behalf of all Reading fans, we have spoken with the club about their pledge to offer monthly updates on the takeover process.
“The latest update is due this week. The club has recognised this and stated that they want to issue a thorough update next week. We expressed our belief that any later would be unacceptable to the fans, and this was also recognised.
“As usual, we expect NDAs to limit precise details, but we would urge the club to remember why the previous update was mainly well received by fans.
“In addition to sounding more human, the last report brought actual signs of development.
“For a fanbase who are losing (or have already lost) faith in the takeover process, these details are absolutely essential to rebuilding trust between club and fans and if progress has stalled, or is in a particularly delicate phase, plain talking will always be preferred to platitudes.”
