Midfielder set for late West Brom departure

Midfielder set for late West Brom departure

Before the February 3 deadline earlier this week, Sassuolo, the midfielder’s parent club, was reportedly considering recalling him from his season-long loan, according to Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb. Gianluca Di Marzio, a transfer journalist, has since verified that.

West Brom may be eager to bring in another European outfield player, but they are currently limited because they can only bring in four foreign players every season who don’t fulfill the existing points standards.

Racic, who plays in the quartet with Torbjorn Heggem, Gianluca Frabotta, and Ousmane Diakite, may be let go by the Baggies to make room for another player. The Sassuolo midfielder hasn’t impressed at The Hawthorns and hasn’t scored a goal in the second division thus far.

This led to a move to West Brom in the summer to play in Carlos Corberan’s midfield. With Tony Mowbray in charge, it’s unknown how much of a role Racic and others will play going forward given Corberan’s recent departure from the team, although the 26-year-old is currently lower on the hierarchy.

According to Di Marzio, they are trying to get Sassuolo to send him somewhere else and to cancel the loan. Although the exact location is yet unknown, Mowbray is expected to lose a player from his engine room prior to Monday’s transfer deadline.

According to Portuguese news outlet Record, which was cited by Sport Witness, Portuguese team Famalicao is attempting to negotiate a reunion with the midfield player.
