Ipswich Town now pushing to sign new 76-career goal forward before deadline

Ipswich Town are working to sign a new international forward before Monday evening’s transfer deadline.

Ipswich Town’s January signings so far

As they attempt to stay in the Premier League and avoid relegation, the Tractor Boys have been active so far in 2025, adding several new players to Kieran McKenna’s team.

Julio Enciso (loan) Brighton

However, given Ali Al-Hamadi’s transfer to Stoke City, another attacking acquisition might be on the way at Portman Road. Earlier this month, when asked if he wanted a striker to compete with George Hirst and Liam Delap, McKenna responded:

“We must wait and find out. Look, we’ll attempt to make the squad better in any manner we can on the final day. The squad has adequate depth. Only if we can bring in players who we believe can significantly impact the starting lineup or matchday squad and help us win the remaining games. We will do that if we can. We have strong depth, everyone is on board, and everyone is hungry if that isn’t feasible.

“You can only ever be content when you give it your all. To strive to make the squad as good as possible, we put in a lot of work during the summer, now, and in between.

When you’re a club that has come from where we have come from, that is really difficult to accomplish. It’s quite difficult to balance so many various aspects of life.

“We are in a position where we have a bunch of players that are driven to succeed, solid depth, and a good blend of attributes throughout the squad. It’s a really nice spot to be.

Ryan One, a young player for Sheffield United, has been linked to them recently, but an experienced target has surfaced.

Ipswich Town working to sign striker Bayo

According to reports in France, Ipswich Town are making a move to sign Lille striker Mohamed Bayo before February 3. The report states that Ipswich have made concrete steps to sign Bayo, as have Turkish side Besiktas, with a decision to be made on his future very soon.

Bayo is apparently likely to depart Lille before the deadline, and a move to England with Ipswich appears to be possible.

Prior to moving to Lille in 2022, the 26-year-old, a Guinea international, developed at Clermont Foot and played his whole club career in France.

With a contract with Lille through 2027 and 76 goals in his career for both club and country, it will be intriguing to see what kind of price the forward would demand.

It would be interesting to watch if Ipswich were to get the attacker for a comparable amount, as Transfermarkt only values the striker at €4 million.
