Cardiff City set to seal exciting Leicester City transfer

Following the completion of agreements for Yousef Salech and Sivert Mannsverk earlier in the window, Glen Williams, WalesOnline’s Bluebirds writer, recently reported on the Foxes winger’s expected arrival.
Naturally, the club and Riza’s team will feel happier going into February and beyond as a result of Alves’ acquisition.
Williams’ report claims that Cardiff is nearing a loan signing for Alves, who was one of the manager’s top January targets after working under Riza for three years at the England junior level.
Cardiff is about to finalize a deal that will see the highly-regarded prospect spend the remainder of the season in the Welsh capital. Cardiff has been eager to sign a winger and use the Premier League loan market.
Alves, a product of the Foxes academy, signed a four-year contract with Leicester just last summer, and the team is confident in his long-term abilities. In fact, according to Williams’ claim, Leicester has chosen to approve Alves’ first loan move outside of the King Power Stadium after considering keeping him in Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s squad for the rest of the Premier League season.

The 19-year-old has long been predicted to have a successful career in the East Midlands, and he recently earned his Premier League debut against Manchester City. In his early career, he has already had to face major obstacles. From December 2022 to the beginning of 2024, he was sidelined for more than 12 months due to an ACL injury.
With his incredible speed and acceleration, the winger—who can also play as a number 10—can easily outpace opposing full-backs.Naturally, Cardiff has struggled with a persistent lack of speed in recent years, and they will be hoping that his acquisition can make Riza’s team more dynamic and direct during transition.
In addition, he is a natural craftsman with exceptional close control and a toolkit, which means he may potentially provide star quality and X-Factor to Cardiff’s attack.
Alves is a true talent who could have already established himself as a first-team regular with the Foxes if it weren’t for his horrific ACL injury.
However, he will now have the opportunity to prove himself to those in Cardiff, as he appears destined to play an immediate and important part in Riza’s setup for the remainder of the season.
