Breaking news: ‘Rangers could sign Emmanuel Dennis on loan-to-buy & pay just 30% of his wages’.
Rangers have been tipped to sign Nottingham Forest star Emmanuel Dennis on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
Former England custodian Paul Robinson revealed on the current episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that Rangers could only pay him 30% of his salary, with Forest covering the remainder in an effort to get him out. The 27-year-old is presently paid about £4 million per year (£77,000 per week) at the City Ground, which has put a lot of clubs off making a move. Any commitment to buy included in the contract is also expected to be a stumbling hurdle for the Glasgow club, considering their financial difficulties. Forest, on the other hand, are “desperate” to get Dennis off their books permanently and are unlikely to approve a straight loan for his exit.
Sheffield Wednesday had also queried about the striker’s availability, but backed out of talks due to his high price.
Nottingham Forest ‘desperate’ to sell Emmanuel Dennis amid Rangers interest
Since his move to Forest from Watford in 2022, Dennis has featured just 25 times for the club and has spent loan spells in Turkey and back at Vicarage Road in the last two seasons.
Now, Robinson has explained that a move to Rangers would help rejuvenate his career, but the finances involved in the deal will make it a difficult one to pull off.
“The stumbling block will be his wages,” he told Football Insider. “He apparently earns around £4 million per year at Nottingham Forest, which will be a major problem for Rangers. “The Rangers would only pay a percentage of it, but Forest appears to be desperate to get rid of him. “He hasn’t been popular since arriving at the City Ground, and he’s clearly not in the manager’s plans.”
