FC Twente qualified for the Europa League playoffs with a 1-0 victory over Besiktas at Enschede.

FC Twente’s mission was obvious before the game. To advance to the following round, they needed to win first.

The hosts dominated the first half, although Ricky van Wolfswinkel’s header went just over, while Michel Vlap missed an excellent chance. Ciro Immobile of Besiktas had a wide shot.

In the second half, Sem Steijn struck the post for Twente, while Emirhan Topçu was fortunate not to be sent off for the visitors following a reckless tackle on Van Wolfswinkel.

Twente sought, and with fifteen minutes remaining, a cross found Daan Rots, who slammed the ball into the net to score it 1-0.

Twente maintained their lead thanks to Lars Unnerstall, and they ended 23rd in the standings, securing a berth in the next round. FK Bodø/Glimt and Anderlecht are prospective opponents.
