Derby County are edging closer to completing the signing of Viking FK’s Sondre Langås in the winter market.
That’s according to Aftenblad, who state the Norwegian club are ‘about to sell’ the 23-year-old to Derby County.
Their title says Paul Warne’s side will pay a fee over NOK 50m [€4.26m] to Viking for the centre-back.
The operation is advanced as the outlet says Langås will continue his career in England as he is approaching Derby County.
TV2 are also reporting the defender is ‘about to be sold’ to the Championship club in this window.
The operation will cost Derby County at least NOK 60m [€5.1m], which is more than what was reported by Aftenbladet. TV2 add the overall fee could rise up to NOK 70m [€5.96m], meaning bonuses will be NOK 10m.
This makes Langås the most expensive defender to be sold from the Norwegian football.
TV2 further adds the Norway international has to carry out medical tests with the English club before finalising the operation. The transfer should go through in the next few hours.
Langås joined Viking in July 2023 and made 43 appearances in all competitions for them.
