The Old Gold are likely to sign off on multiple agreements – both incomings and outgoings.
Mario Lemina is in talks to sign for Torino and looks nailed on to leave Molineux before next week’s Deadline
Day. Although Matheus Cunha’s future is still up in the air, supporters have a sneaking suspicion that the Brazilian
will stay until the end of the season.
Vitor Pereira has selected Kevin Danso as his center-back, and Wolves has recently made an offer for Real Betis’
Johnny Cardoso, so it’s obvious where the priorities lie.
Fans have also questioned whether the team might try to offer Rayan Ait-Nouri competition and cover, despite the
fact that Pereira is obviously looking to bolster defensive midfield and central defense.
Left-back addition unlikely but not totally ruled out
Ait-Nouri has been one of Pereira’s most trusted players.
The 23-year-old is a vital component in Wolves’ system, but after starting every Premier League match this season,
looks like he may need a rest.
And club expert Liam Keen has admitted the left-back position is one Wolves are short of options in.
“The left-sided area feels like an area that Wolves could definitely add in, whether it becomes a priority in this
window is a tough one,” he said on the E&S podcast.
Tyrell Malacia suggested as potential option
Going on to respond to one fan, who suggested Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia as a realistic option, Keen
agreed the out-of-favour 25-year-old could be a great addition to come in until the end of the campaign.
“If a [Kevin] Danso deal doesn’t work out, I don’t think it’s out of the question that they’ll look at that area [left-
back],” he continued.
“And I don’t think Tyrell Malacia is a terrible player to suggest by any means out of all the players to suggest, but it
might not be a priority for this window.”
Following the Red Devils’ agreement with Lecce to sign Patrick Dorgu, Malacia is available this window. Given that
Ruben Amorim has Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw, who just returned, as possibilities, Malacia’s desire to pursue
regular play elsewhere is not surprising.
Pereira’s pursuit of the former Feyenoord star may not be the worst transfer tactic, even though Wolves’ interest is
still uncertain, as Keen pointed out.
