Romelu Lukaku reacts as massive Everton midfielder news emerges

The 26-year-old has made 19 Premier League games since joining the Blues on loan from Lyon last summer, and he played a key role in David Moyes’ back-to-back victories against Brighton and Tottenham.

But according to The Athletic on Thursday, January 30, Mangala will be out until the next season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage late in the victory over the Seagulls.

Lukaku, Mangala’s former Everton striker and Belgium teammate, responded to the news on Instagram by writing, “Courage, my bro.” You understand what I mean.

Everton suffer crushing Orel Mangala injury blow

This season, Mangala has been an important member of Everton’s squad under both Sean Dyche and new manager Moyes.

Since joining the Toffees on loan from Lyon on August 30, he has participated in every game for which he has been available.

He has started 14 of the 19 league games in which he has been registered, and in the club’s 4-0 thumping of Wolves in December, he scored his first goal in English football.

He will now be a huge loss for Moyes, but fortunately, there are still a few days left in the transfer window to try to find a successor for the 23-time Belgium international.

Currently, Moyes has a number of choices for playing defensive midfield when Mangala is not available.

James Garner, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gueue can play there. The emergence of youth talent Harrison Armstrong could allow one of them to fill the void left by the injured loan star.

However, the best option will definitely be to make the most of the final few days of the transfer window to bolster not only the midfield but also the strike force due to another injury in Moyes’ squad.
