Leicester City tell striker he is free to leave the club.
Leicester City have faced trouble in recent transfer window because of Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s club is still under fear of relegation, with last season’s Championship winners lying in 17th place in the league. They are still trying to add to their team this month, but they may need to sell some players in order to balance their budget. Woyo Coulibaly was the club’s only addition during the winter transfer window, but others may join shortly if they can dispose one of their first-team players to lessen the financial burden. Van Nistelrooy’s squad may lose midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to AS Monaco before the transfer deadline. According to iPaper, Leicester City are prepared to let Patson Daka depart the club and they are willing to listen to offers for the attacker.
It is not surprising that they are considering selling Daka, given that the striker has only started one league game this season and is obviously behind Jamie Vardy in the club’s pecking order. The prospective sale of Daka would leave the club with only Odsonne Eduoard as a backup option for Vardy, demonstrating how much they are hurting financially that they are willing to reduce their squad size.
Patson Daka’s move to Leicester City has not worked well
After signing Daka in 2021, the Foxes have yet to see a return on their investment in the attacker who came to the club with high expectations and the potential for a big return. However, his move has not worked out well for both the player and the team, as Leicester have relied largely on their famed attacker Vardy. Daka has only scored ten goals in 64 Premier League games for the previous league winners, which is a disappointing result for a striker of his quality. With the transfer window closing soon, Leicester must make a choice on Daka’s future.
Fans might prefer the attacker to stay at the club so that they can have another striker to rely upon in their battle for relegation this season but the club appears to have no option but to let him leave due to their poor financial situation.
