BBC Sports: MK Dons sign defender Sanders from St Johnstone.

MK Dons has signed defender Jack Sanders from Scottish club St Johnstone for an unknown amount.

After joining St Johnstone from Kilmarnock last summer, the 25-year-old has made 27 appearances this season, 22 of which have been in the Scottish Premiership. He is the Dons’ sixth signing of the January transfer window, however one of them, Nathan Thompson, is unlikely to play this season due to a significant knee injury. “Jack is an exciting centre-back at a great stage in his career; it’s clear he has a really high ceiling,” Dons head coach Scott Lindsey stated. “He’s already played a good amount of football this season so should be able to hit the ground running quickly.”

Sanders began his career in Wigan Athletic’s junior system before moving north to Kilmarnock, where he had loan spells at Cove Rangers and Ayr United before joining St Johnstone last summer. “I wanted to join a club that suited my playing style, and this one certainly did. I’m still seeking to improve; I’m not the finished product by any stretch of the imagination,” he stated.
