Tottenham and Arsenal target Mathys Tel appears to hint he’s leaving after Champions League match for Bayern Munich.
Mathys Tel has become a name that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur supporters in north London can’t get enough of in the last 24 hours.
Arsenal and Tottenham are looking for a new striker before the transfer deadline next week. It has been reported that Tel may leave Bayern Munich.
Despite a dearth of playing time under Vincent Kompany, Tel began Bayern’s Champions League match against Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday evening.
Tel began to the left of Harry Kane and played for 62 minutes before being substituted by Kingsley Coman.
Given the striker’s considerable interest from England, it appears that those minutes may be Tel’s last in Bavaria, a view confirmed by the Frenchman’s antics at full time.
Mathys Tel waved goodbye to Bayern Munich fans after the Champions League match.
Tel did not follow his teammates down the tunnel after Bayern defeated their opponents 3-1 at full time.
Instead, the 19-year-old headed to Bayern’s south stand and appeared to bid farewell to the home crowd.
Tel could be seen throwing his shirt into the crowd and conversing with fans, who praised the striker.
Journalist Kerry Hau filmed the scene and released footage of Tel’s apparent goodbye on X.
After handing out his shirt to supporters, the striker nearly performed a lap of honor, making it unlikely that he will stay with Bayern beyond Monday’s deadline.
Arsenal is reportedly considering a deal for Tel, indicating that the Frenchman’s interest has shifted.
Although Tel may only cost £40 million this month, a deal might still be appealing for some English clubs.
Mathys Tel is keen for more minutes with his next club.
Tottenham are also interested in signing Tel, a striker who might really benefit Ange Postecoglou in N17.
Dominic Solanke will be out for at least a month, forcing Postecoglou to rely on Will Lankshear during Spurs’ recent defeat to Leicester City.
Arsenal fans on the opposite side of north London would undoubtedly be upset if Tel suddenly appeared for Tottenham next week, considering their own need for a striker.
Tel was hesitant to join Chelsea because to the lack of consistent game time.
As a result, the striker’s next career move may be determined by which club can provide a better pathway and minutes in the coming years, assuming he joins the Premier League.
