Thiago Motta takes responsibility for Juventus’ defeat and refuses to rule out new signings

Thiago Motta, the coach of Juventus, accepts responsibility for the team’s 2-0 loss to Benfica and says he won’t rule out making new additions in the closing days of the January transfer window.

Even though the Bianconeri lost to Benfica 2-0 in Turin on Wednesday, they nevertheless qualified for the Champions League knockout playoffs.

The Bianconeri had thought that a win would guarantee them a spot in the Round of 16, so this is a disappointing outcome. In addition, they had just lost to Napoli in their first Serie A game last week.

“We have to get better soon. At a press conference held after the game, which Football Italia attended, Motta stated, “Today, we missed creating something in the final third.”

“The team we played against deserved to win. We have to get better fast so that the players are ready for Sunday.

In the upcoming Serie A round, Juventus will play Empoli at the Allianz Stadium.

“We weren’t worthy of today’s victory. Motta went on, “Benfica generated more chances than we did.

“We have another game on Sunday, so we need to get better quickly. Even though Samuel [Mbangula] had a wonderful chance to take the lead, the first half of today was difficult.

“Benfica deserved to win because we didn’t do enough to cause them any problems in the second half.”

On counterattacks, Benfica was especially dangerous, and Juventus was frequently exposed defensively.

“We need to better handle these situations,” Motta stated.

We have to play freely today because we had to keep going when we lose. We didn’t accomplish our goals. If it’s possible

We are the first ones to be upset. It’s the second straight loss; we’re not satisfied, and there’s only one way to get back on track: get better for the next game and win it. Pierre Kalulu was taken off the field early in the first half due to a suspected muscle injury. “Let’s see how he feels. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious, and he can return with the group for the next match. I think it’s difficult, but let’s see.” Motta responded, “I don’t want excuses. Now, we must focus on the next game to win.” A reporter questioned Motta about why Juventus’ strikers didn’t appear confident enough tonight.

He responded, “I won’t talk about individual players; we win and lose as a team.”

“I am accountable for this. The boys always make an effort to do their best.

The final query concerned the market and if Juventus might acquire a seasoned defender in the final days of the January transfer window.

Motta responded, “We keep an eye on who could help the team, but I won’t talk about transfers before a game or after a loss.”

“We are in agreement. We are aware of what this squad requires, and we only purchase players who have the potential to get better.
