Elliot Myles is the latest Norwich City teenager to get into Johannes Hoff Thorup‘s first squad, and U18 manager Greg Crane is hoping it’s just the beginning.

The Wales junior international earned his maiden league game against Sheffield United earlier this month at the age of 17, becoming the youngest City player to play in the Championship since Bally Smart in 2007.
Thorup and his coaching crew hold high regard for Myles, who recently turned 18 years old.Crane, who has played an important part in his development at the club, believes there is more to come after his first taste of senior league games at Carrow Road.

“I had Elliot while he was in the U16s and played for the junior team. Crane stated, “It’s clear that he has talent.”

“It has been a pleasure to work with him. He is quite football-savvy. He understands the game inside out, and moving up to the first team has given him a lot of confidence. Once you get over, you have to demonstrate that you belong, and hopefully he is doing so.

“He needs to puff his chest up a little bit and demonstrate that he can handle first-team situations. He has to start putting pressure on the players and seizing opportunities to impress, whether they come from the first team, U21s, or U18s.

“Knowing the boy as I do, I am quite pleased of what he is accomplishing right now. Hopefully, he can keep doing that.

Myles was on target for City U18s in their Youth Cup defeat to West Brom on Tuesday, netting the second goal in a 4-2 fifth-round loss before being removed in the 76th minute.

Johannes Hoff Thorup handed Elliot Myles his first Championship appearance at Sheffield United earlier this month.
