Earlier today, we discussed allegations from Germany that Jonjoe Kenny’s deal from Hertha Berlin to Sheffield United was in jeopardy.
A few days ago, the Championship club was claimed to have set a Wednesday deadline for a transfer, and if no deal was reached with the German club by then, Sheffield United was prepared to walk away from the prospect.
The Blades needed time to consider other fullback alternatives on the market, which was expected to jeopardize Kenny’s chances of joining Sheffield United in the summer when he becomes a free agent.
Hertha Berlin turned down a Sheffield United offer of €600,000 initially, and another €600,000 if the Blades are promoted to the Premier League.
Instead, they sought €2 million.
According to Sky Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg, the two teams met again today in a final attempt to reach a deal. Those discussions failed.
Aside from that, Florian does not provide any new information, instead relying on already published numbers.
There’s still time for another twist, right?!
