Luton Town player set to secure top-flight switch

The Scottish player’s loan at Charlton Athletic is expected to be terminated before he joins the Scottish Premiership team, according to Football Insider.

The 26-year-old Campbell joined Luton in the summer of 2021 and contributed significantly to their success in his first two seasons at Kenilworth Road.

However, he was not played as a substitute in two of their three May 2023 play-off games, and it was uncertain if the midfield player would stay in Bedfordshire after they were promoted to the Premier League.

In the summer of 2023, he temporarily switched to Millwall after being made available on a loan, which may come as no surprise.

Due to a series of injuries he suffered while in the English capital, he had a rather lackluster stint at The Den. The previous summer, he moved down to League One to sign a loan deal with Charlton.

Campbell has had the chance to connect with Nathan Jones, with whom he worked at Luton, despite taking a step back to join the Addicks.

However, he might be nearing the end of his tenure at The Valley.

According to Football Insider, Campbell will join Jim Goodwin’s team and end his loan at Charlton before returning to Scotland.

Earlier this month, the same publication stated that Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibernian were all reportedly interested in acquiring the midfield player.

However, it appears like Dundee United will prevail in the competition for his services, as the Luton player will be joining a team that is presently ranked third in the Scottish Premiership standings.
