Last week, reports stated the Tigers had reached an arrangement with the Saints for a temporary transfer to the MKM Stadium.
According to Hull Live, it seems doubtful that Taylor will make a trade, despite the ball being in his court. The 31-year-old is claimed to have requested time to explore his alternatives, which included Watford.
After several days, Hull are reported to have walked away with a move that is unlikely to occur.
Hull have been active in the transfer market this month, revamping their squad in the style of new head coach Ruben Selles.
The team has made six additions, including Matt Crooks, Joe Gelhardt, and Louie Barry.
Taylor would be yet another coup for the club, however they are said to have other left-back interests.
Murray Wallace, a Millwall player who formerly played for Huddersfield Town, has been connected with the Tigers.
Taylor, a Leeds United academy graduate, made 104 first-team appearances after progressing through the Elland Road youth levels.
He left under a cloud in 2017, moving up to the Premier League with Burnley. Taylor moved to Southampton in the summer of 2024 after making over 200 appearances for the Clarets.
The Saints have had a dismal season, making the step up to the Premier League extremely difficult.
Taylor has made only two league starts, the last coming in September.
