Getting desperate’ – Derby County vs Sheffield United prediction: The 72
This weekend, Sheffield United travels to Derby County in the Championship, with both teams hoping to earn a crucial three points.
After their unexpected loss to Hull City the previous time out, Sheffield United is looking to recover. The 3-0 loss was the first time since February 2023 that SUFC had given up three goals in a Championship match.
After extending his contract at Bramall Lane midweek, Chris Wilder is looking for win and has the ideal opportunity to do it against a struggling Derby County team. This season, the Blades have only lost three away games, against Leeds United, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough.
They have won three of their previous five games and are presently in second place, one point ahead of Burnley in third.

Derby County, on the other hand, comes into the Sheffield United game having lost badly to Cardiff City the weekend before. Because of this, they are now in the bottom three for the first time this season.
Paul Warne’s team failed to overcome the two goals they conceded in the second half at Cardiff City Stadium in less than two minutes, despite a goal from Lars-Jorgen Salvasen on his first Rams start.
DCFC hasn’t gained any points in over a month and could set an undesirable club record for losses after suffering six consecutive league losses and a cup loss to Leyton Orient.
Alex Lipniski
“Derby County is now the team that every team in this division wants to play. I don’t see the Rams shocking Sheffield United the way Hull did, even though they haven’t been playing with a defeatist mindset and getting their bellies rubbed.
Although they have little trouble scoring goals, they haven’t kept a clean sheet since the middle of December. They have the league’s poorest form by a wide margin.

“I assume that SUFC manager Wilder will be anticipating a response and won’t allow that loss to the Tigers to go unpunished. If a team vying for the top two attacks the hosts like a wounded animal, I wouldn’t be shocked. If the hosts were to approach the game timidly, I would anticipate that Hamer and O’Hare would possess the technical and distribution skills necessary to dismantle the Rams.
James Ray
“Derby County is getting desperate.” Although poor performance has long been a cause for concern, DCFC’s six consecutive Championship losses raise serious worries since they are currently in the relegation zone.
“Hopefully, Warne will be able to turn things around with some winter business. Sheffield United will be the favourites to win even if they make Pride Park a difficult place to visit once more.
The Blades must recover from their loss to Hull City. They should have the quality to defeat the Rams, but this game is similar enough to throw up another banana peel.
“If SUFC isn’t at the races, keep an eye on this as a possible upset, but I’ll be betting on them to win.”Prediction:
Derby County 0-2 Sheffield United
