A man has told how he arrived at the site of a tragic Ferrari crash and heard the driver attempt to mutter his last

words just before bodyguards from former Prime Minister David Cameron arrived and tried to save his life.

On his way home from his job as a chef at the Marlingford Bell, Geoff Mayer noticed Benjamin’s Gladman red Ferrari

360 had crashed into a tree after veering off a small backroad close to the village. He exited, dialled, and attempted to

console Mr. Gladman, who was still conscious.

“The undercover agents’ prompt arrival startled me, but I didn’t learn until later that they were working with David

Cameron on the Great Melton shoot.

“Even though I’m not religious, I feel a connection to the deceased man since I was among the last people he saw

alive—possibly the last—and I feel like I owe him something.

“I offer my condolences to the family for their pain and suffering and also wish the passenger the best of health.”

The home where Mr. Gladman and his brother reside is less than 0.5 miles from the scene of the collision.Together,

they manage Gladman Properties, a real estate company.

A source close to Lord Cameron said he was “proud” of the efforts of his security team.

“I was trying to make sense of what I saw as I was coming around the corner,” said Mr. Mayer, who at the time was

on his way home to Norwich. The fact that it was a Ferrari in a bust was obvious. I was surprised.

“As I approached, I saw that there had been a crash and that it had not simply been dumped in the bush. The vehicle

nearly broke in two.

“I got out and the male was trying to speak to me. I couldn’t make sense of what he was saying, and the woman in the

car was unconscious.

“I was reassuring the driver and telling him I was now calling in help and telling him to stay with me when suddenly

a tractor and two Land Rover Discoveries pulled up behind me.

“One of them turned away and sped off, and the other came and helped.”

Despite the protection officers’ best attempts, Mr. Gladman, 31, was declared dead at the spot.

In a serious but non-life-threatening condition, his female passenger was air ambulanceed to the hospital.

Around 3 p.m. on Saturday, the collision occurred at Bow Hill, which connects Marlingford to the B1108 Watton

Road.

The nearby Marlingford Hall, owned by Nicholas Evans-Lombe, an old Eton school acquaintance, was the location of

Lord Cameron’s shooting weekend.
