Carlos Forbs needed a new opportunity abroad after losing his reputation at Ajax, which was one of the reasons he signed a loan deal with Wolves in the summer.
He hasn’t played more than 300 minutes for Wolves thus far, though, and the move hasn’t gone as planned for all parties. Ajax is reportedly trying to bring him back during the current window, according to several sources in recent days.
De Telegraaf provided an update on that today, and it doesn’t seem like Ajax is relying heavily on Forbs going forward. He is simply someone they can acquire at this time.
Barcelona’s Ansu Fati and Rangers’ Rabbi Matondo had been linked with Ajax but those two options are now considered over. Indeed, Matondo is thought to be in Germany where he’s joining Hannover 96.
Raul Moro of Real Vallodolid, Oliver Valaker Edvardsen of Go Ahead Eagles, or bringing back Forbs from Wolves are the only options left.
De Telegraaf explains that although Moro is the player they consider to be a long-term solution, he may miss three months due to a damaged collarbone. Taking Forbs back from Wolves as a stopgap is viewed as a solution because Edvardsen would be another long-term commitment and not someone they would sign as well as Moro.
Additionally, there is assurance that Wolves would consent to the transfer.
To ensure he can locate a new permanent home in the summer, Forbs himself should likely speak with his representatives.
