Tottenham backed to seal ‘£60m Jhon Duran deal” amid persistent injury crisis.

Martin Allen can see Tottenham signing Jhon Duran as striker cover while Dominic Solanke is out injured.

Following a knee injury sustained during training prior to the loss to Everton, the England international is expected to be out “for a few weeks” in North London [Alasdair Gold, 19 January].

Spurs have won one and lost one since this problem, and their most recent 2-1 loss to Leicester City may lead Ange Postecoglou to call for reinforcements before the end of January.

Allen, the former manager of the Foxes, thinks the Lilywhites might try to sign Duran, a forward for Aston Villa, although they might have trouble at this point in the winter transfer season.

Allen stated in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News: “Will they want to get someone else in for £50-60m?

“Maybe Duran for £60 million, but it will be interesting to see if Tottenham wants to do that when Solanke returns.”They will not want to lose their best players in January, so it’s a fine line to bring them in at this point and get them out of other clubs.

“It has been challenging to get players in this window.”

Tottenham may sign Jhon Duran to replace Dominic Solanke

The Colombian international would undoubtedly be a fantastic addition to North London following what has been a truly remarkable season at Villa Park, scoring 12 goals in just 29 games across all competitions despite mostly playing as a substitute under Unai Emery.

Nevertheless, Duran might be enticed by a move to the capital as direct competition for Solanke going forward.

It would be a sensible move for Postecoglou given the parallels between the two, but it is unclear if Daniel Levy would agree to pay the amount Villa would require.

In other Tottenham news, a return timeline has been revealed, and James Maddison has been dealt a devastating new blow.
