Sam Dalby addresses Dundee United future as Wrexham loanee admits summer options ‘would be good’
Despite United’s 3-1 loss to Rangers, Dalby’s immediate future at Dundee United was assured last week when parent club Wrexham chose not to exercise a recall clause in his loan contract. This decision was a huge relief for United manager Jim Goodwin and the supporters who have witnessed Dalby’s goal-scoring prowess this season. On Sunday, the 25-year-old moved ahead of Kyogo in the league’s top scorers chart with his 11th goal of the Premiership campaign..

3 | Dundee Utd | 24 | 10 | 7 | 7 | 32 | 27 | 5 | 37 |
Dalby will have to make a choice because he has been essential to the Terrors as they aim to play in Europe next season.
Will he be seduced by the prospect of competing on the international scene, or will Dalby find it impossible to refuse Wrexham’s current contract offer?
Dalby responded, “Yes, of course,” when asked about his plans after the summer. I’m not really looking at that right now, but it would be nice to have a lot of attention toward the conclusion of the season.
“I’m just trying to support my team and take each game as it comes. It goes without saying that Dundee United is a fantastic place to be, and I’m quite content here.
I’ll honestly state that I won’t give it any thought until the end of the season, once it’s over.
“I just want to concentrate on helping my team and trying to stay up the table game by game because we’re in a good position in the league.”
Up until last Friday, Dalby’s immediate future was uncertain and
He went on: “The staff, fans, and all of the players have been really kind to me, and the (Dundee United) fans have welcomed me with open arms.”
So, sure, I’m glad to be here. Although I’ve made an effort to ignore it, it’s something that
Unconsciously, I think I may have.
“I was completely unaware of what was going on. I didn’t really get any clues from Wrexham.
“But yes, I’m glad I know I’ll be here for the remainder of the season so I can just concentrate on every game we have coming up.”
Since Dalby was permitted to remain at Dundee United, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has spoken out about the striker.
Parkinson reaffirmed that the decision was made by the Wrexham management team, in part because to Dalby’s desire to finish the campaign at Tannadice.
“We made the decision; it was up to us,” the Wrexham management stated. We basically made the decision that we want to watch him finish the season up there because he is one of our players.
“I spoke with Sam, and he expressed a strong desire to remain up there. It has been a fantastic fit for him, and he has found a solid rhythm.
“We’ve discussed a new deal with him and his agency, and it’s still in the early stages, but he needs to continue doing what he’s doing until the conclusion of the season and
