“Makes it all the more sweet” – Sheffield United jibe issued at Sheff Wed amid Ipswich Town loan agreement

Harry Clarke, a defender for Ipswich Town, has officially joined Sheffield United despite competition from Sheffield Wednesday.

It is now definite that the right-back will join on loan from the Tractor Boys until the end of the season, as writer Mike McGrath initially reported.

The Blades have outbid their fierce local rivals for the deal; earlier this week, The Star reported that Danny Rohl was eager to include the former Arsenal player in his starting lineup.

Despite helping Ipswich get promoted to the Premier League the previous season, Clarke has lost ground to players like Ben Johnson and Ben Godfrey in the top division.

Jimmy, a Blades Ramble fan commentator for FLW’s Sheffield United, expressed his happiness at the acquisition when questioned about the signing of Clarke.

He is pleased to have beaten the Owls to the 23-year-old’s signature for the right-back, but he still feels that a center-back signing is necessary.

Jimmy said Football League World, “Harry Clarke looks like a very good signing for Sheffield United.”

There is some sadness that we were unable to get a permanent right-back during this window since we were in for Jonjoe Kenny on a long-term contract.

But things won’t go as easily as you’d want during the January transfer window.

“Harry Clarke seems like a very good substitute.

It’s made more sweeter by the fact that our competitors have shown interest in him.

“We still need a center-back as a top priority, and because Harry Clarke’s loan means we’ve used up all five loan [spaces], the center-back target must now be a long-term commitment if he is going to sign one.

It does somewhat alter our situation.

“Very happy with the signing, like what I’ve seen of Harry Clarke, and I think he can do a job for us.”

For Sheffield United, Harry Clarke may be a kind of Alfie Gilchrist boost.

Although Clarke may prove to be an improvement over Alfie Gilchrist, he will provide Sheffield United’s defensive options more strength and depth.

Though he is more of a defensive full-back than an attacking one, the Chelsea loanee is undeniably talented and has a promising future.

In contrast, Clarke does not mind sometimes blasting down the flank, as he did with Ipswich last season.

Gilchrist may take over as center defender with Clarke’s arrival, perhaps covering for Souttar after his season-ending injury.

Clarke might be a very wise addition to Wilder’s team for the second half of the season since he has experience pushing for promotion to the Premier League and is a good addition to the dressing room.
