The Biancocelesti have been tracking the Chelsea midfielder for weeks, in what has become one of the most dramatic soap operas of the January transfer window. Torino has surpassed Lazio in the chase for the Italy U21 starlet, despite initial reports of an agreement between the two clubs.

According to Italian writer Gianluca Di Marzio, Granata has secured agreements for Casadei and RB Leipzig’s Eljif Elmas, who was also linked with Lazio earlier this month.

Lazio Could Turn to Ivan Ilic

According to a transfer market analyst, the Aquile have recently inquired about Torino’s Ilic, but have yet to initiate discussions with their Serie A rivals. According to Italian writer Damiano Er Faina, the Serbian agent has offered his client’s services to Lazio, who may consider the offer if they do not sign Casadei.

The Background of Ilic

Ilic is a Serbian international who began his career at Red Star Belgrad before joining Manchester City in 2017. He has been playing in Serie A since joining Hellas Verona in 2020, following his instructor Ivan Juric to Torino in January 2023.

However, with Casadei and Elmas apparently entering the ranks, the 23-year-old may find himself surplus to needs in Paolo Vanoli’s midfield department, which also contains Samuele Ricci, Adrien Tameze, and Karol Linetty.
