Lawrence Shankland transfer: Rangers told to sanction ‘no-brainer’ deal.
Barry Ferguson believes Rangers should not hesitate to pursue Hearts forward Lawrence Shankland on a free transfer.
The former Gers captain believes it would be a “no-brainer” for the Light Blues to sign the Scotland international after his contract expires at the end of the season. While Ferguson does not anticipate the 29-year-old to make a significant impact, he would be a valuable addition to the Glasgow squad. Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show [28 January], the former midfielder said: “If you can acquire him on a free transfer, it’s a no-brainer. “I’m not suggesting he’ll come in and score a tonne of goals and be amazing. But if you can get a guy of that quality for free, you should grab him.”
Lawrence Shankland transfer to boost Rangers prospects
Hamza Igamane has rightfully cemented his spot as the Bears’ number-one striker following some outstanding performances recently, and it would not be surprised if big teams signed him in the near future. As a result, Cyriel Dessers has dropped down the pecking order, raising questions about the Nigerian center-forward’s future. Philippe Clement also has Danilo at his disposal, but the Brazilian has suffered with fitness concerns at the Gers. If Rangers lose one of their number nines, they will undoubtedly need to strengthen their attack during the forthcoming transfer window.
