Every Championship transfer so far as former Coventry City boss Mark Robins returns for familiar face
As the transfer window closes and there are still no announcements or confirmations of any new players joining the team, Coventry City supporters are starting to become a little agitated. According to reports, the Sky Blues are making a third attempt to sign Matt Grimes, a 29-year-old captain and experienced midfielder for Swansea City. The announcement comes a few days after Frank Lampard lost out on Rabbi Matondo, a winger for Rangers, since the two teams couldn’t agree on loan terms for the Wales international.
In the meantime, there has been a lot of conjecture regarding interest in City’s own players. According to reports in Lancashire, Blackburn Rovers is trying to sign Liam Kitching and Brandon Thomas-Asante, while Milan van Ewijk is reportedly on the “radar” of Premier League Fulham and Turkish team Galatasaray.
As he continues to evaluate his inherited team in preparation for what is anticipated to be a much busier summer transfer window, Lampard has made his position on the subject clear, stating that he does not want any of his senior players to leave in the January window. In contrast, City’s Championship opponents have been quite active during the current transfer window. It’s important to note that former manager Mark Robins brought Josh Wilson-Esbrand on loan from Man City after bringing him to the CBS Arena a few seasons prior.
