Burnley players with the most league goals and appearances
The top league goal scorers, season by season, since the Football League’s founding in 1888 are listed on a new page
on Up the Clarets. They include players like Alec Brady from the first season of 1888–1889 to Jacob Bruun Larsen,
who was our top scorer the previous season.
Among them are players who have played for us in the past ten years, including Ben Mee, Michael Duff, Ashley
Barnes, Sam Vokes, Jack Cork, Dean Marney, and current Claret Jay Rodriguez. The list of players who have made
200 league appearances or more is led by Jerry Dawson, who has 522.
The second lists every player with forty or more league goals, and once more, the person who is well ahead of them is
George Beel, who has 179 league goals. Once more, there are players from the past ten years, including Rodriguez,
Chris Wood, Barnes, and Vokes.
Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson is currently the closest goal scorer with just fourteen goals, so it may be a while before
any players are added to that list. However, the same player may soon join those in the appearances list, as he is
currently only one game away from reaching 199.
While the goalscorers list displays the games in which each player scored their first and last goals, the appearances
list displays the games in which each player made his or her first and last appearances for us. With the exception of
Jay Rod, who only shows the first, that is.
