The ‘haunted’ 18th century Blackburn pub being turned into a family home
The pub is believed to be haunted by a former bartender called Albert.
An historic pub rumoured to be haunted by a 300-year-old phantom is due to be transformed into a house.
The Quarryman’s Arms on Dukes Brow in Revidge, Blackburn, is set to be changed from a pub to living quarters
following an application submitted by Arifa Saiyad.
Blackburn with Darwen Council gave Mr Saiyad the green light to transform the pub, which closed down in 2016, in
to a house on November 9.
Local legend has it that the pub has been haunted by a ghostly visitor in the form of a spirit called Albert who used to
work in the pub back in the 1700s.
The Quarryman’s Arms first opened in the 18th century and was popular with nearby quarry workers.
In 2009, after hearing enigmatic footfall, lights and gas supplies being turned on and off, the pub’s previous
landlords called in a medium.
A medium stated that the eerie “orbs” seen in the pub’s cellar were attributed to a former employee named Albert.
The barman from the 18th century died hundreds of years ago after falling into the Quarryman’s cellar.
Despite the supernatural fears that once dogged the pub, the historic building itself is not considered to be of great
significance to the area.
