Sky: ‘Monstrous figures at stake’ – Gimenez to Milan remains ‘complicated’.

Feyenoord's Mexican forward #29 Santiago Gimenez

According to reports, AC Milan would face a difficult battle in convincing Feyenoord to sell Santiago Gimenez during the January transfer window.

Milan’s Alvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham failed to score against Parma today, indicating a lack of goal-scoring potential.

The ties with Gimenez have grown in recent days, with reports of an initial approach being rejected and the intention to return with a fresh and improved bid before the window shuts.

According to Peppe Di Stefano on Sky (via MilanNews), Gimenez’s transfer to Milan is ‘a complex affair’ since ‘there are huge sums at risk’. Feyenoord’s objective is ‘not to sell the player at all’ this month.

According to the Sky journalist, convincing Bologna to trade Riccardo Orsolini would be difficult, especially given claims of a player-plus-cash bid for the Italian winger.

The Rossoneri’s key midfield target is Torino’s Samuele Ricci. However, he appears to be more of a summer goal than someone who will come within the next few days.

I’d prefer they have Orsolini than Gimenez. At the very least, Orsolini will have more opportunities than a striker on this Milan squad.
Spending 40 million on Gimenez in January and bringing him in to purportedly polish off the non-existent opportunities Milan produces is ridiculous. Milan exceeded their predicted xG today, but the attackers are the issue because every pass or cross is 20 meters away from them.
Also, if they are so determined to buying a striker, at least get someone who can help you right away, rather than someone from another league who will require time to adjust, especially as a striker in a very competitive league.
Go grab Lucca for half the money and spend the rest on a midfielder.
