Sheffield Wednesday’s next opponents submit bumper bid for 17-goal striker days before Owls clash
This weekend’s matchup against Sheffield Wednesday might feature a highly effective new player leading the line for
Luton Town.
The Owls and Hatters will face off on Saturday afternoon at Hillsborough as Wednesday attempts to snap their home
winless streak. They enter the match as favourites because their opponents have lost six of their previous seven
Championship games and are winless in eight games across all competitions.
In reaction to the team’s terrible performance, Rob Edwards was let go and Matt Bloomfield took his place. The club
acquired Bloomfield from the prestigious Wycombe Wanderers in League One, but it seems they weren’t satisfied
with simply acquiring their manager.
According to media reports, Luton have made an offer of £5m+ to try and land Richard Kone, with Bloomfield
looking to try and bring him to Bedfordshire in hope of him adding to his impressive 17-goal tally at Kenilworth Road
going forwards – though only time will tell whether the Chairboys will be willing to part ways with him or not.
It will be interesting to see if Sam Grace brings him back into the starting lineup amidst all the rumours of a possible
departure, even though Buckinghamshire’s suggestions have suggested that he isn’t for sale. Wycombe plays
Barnsley this evening after playing just 23 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Northampton Town over the weekend.
Two days before the transfer window closes, on Saturday afternoon, Wednesday will meet Luton. Danny Röhl will
undoubtedly be hoping that Kone isn’t added to the Luton roster before then, if only because it will offer him one less
scenario to attempt and prepare for.
