According to a recent update, Sheffield United is looking to add a “incredible” offensive player before the January transfer window closes.
As Chris Wilder looks for additions that can improve his team’s chances of moving up from the Championship to the Premier League, the Blades still have time to bolster their roster this month.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports, United is in “advanced negotiations” with Hertha Berlin over the transfer of right-back Jonjoe Kenny, who has become a top target for the team. The player may return to England after previously playing for Everton.
The Blades are rumored to be interested in Queens Park Rangers defender Jimmy Dunne in January, despite the fact that he has been a vital member of his team this season. His present team may be content to sell him now rather than lose him on a free transfer because his contract expires at the conclusion of this season.
Tom Lawrence, a midfielder for Rangers, is another potential choice for United; the 31-year-old is expected to finalize a transfer to Bramall Lane. However, he is still at Ibrox.
A deal for the “incredible” striker is being considered by Sheffield United.
A Spanish source claims that Sheffield United is interested in signing Kelechi Iheanacho, a former striker for Leicester City who currently plays for Sevilla.
But the Blades are by no means the only team expressing interest in signing him; the report also mentions Watford and Panathinaikos. Meanwhile, Leeds United were set to sign him at one point recently, but that transfer hasn’t materialised as of yet.
Given his background as a top-tier attacking player who has scored 42 goals in 196 Premier League games and 15 goals in 55 Nigerian caps throughout the years, Iheanacho might be a real target for the Blades.
Brendan Rodgers, who waxed poetic about the 28-year-old during their time together at Leicester City in 2021, is clear that he is a top-tier player: “Kelechi has been absolutely incredible over the last few months.” He wanted to push the game, and it wasn’t simply his objective. He works really hard and has no ego at all.

Iheanacho is still very much at the top of his game and could be a key player right away, so United wouldn’t be taking a chance by signing a player who is nearing the end of his career at the age of 28.
Given that they are competing with Leeds for promotion in the Championship and that he might make the difference between now and May, it would also be nice to beat them to the Nigerian’s signature.
Iheanacho has only managed five starts in La Liga this season, so he may likely seek a transfer away from Sevilla as well, so it may be a marriage made in heaven for him and the Blades.
