Sam Dalby has been offered a new contract by Wrexham

In Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Rangers, the 25-year-old scored for the eleventh time this season, keeping him atop the Scottish Premiership scoring records. He has had a great loan stint with the Terrors.

Dalby may have been called up by Parkinson this month to help his team’s League One promotion quest, but it has been agreed that he would remain at Tannadice Park until the end of the season.

Although Dalby’s contract expires this summer, the frontman has been given a new contract, so his time with the Reds is far from done.

On permitting Dalby to remain north of the border, Parkinson said: “It was up to us, we made the decision.

We basically made the decision that we want to watch him finish the season up there because he is one of our players.

“I spoke with Sam, and he expressed a strong desire to remain up there.

“He’s settled into a comfortable groove, and that suits him well.

“We’ve spoken to him and his agent about a new contract and at the moment, that’s at the early early stages, but he’s just got to keep doing what he’s doing from now until the end of the season and we’ll see where it takes us with him.”
