South Yorkshire police have provided a detailed explanation for their involvement in the blue light pursuit of a

wheelchair-bound woman that was seen on tape.

Yesterday, Sunday, January 26, a woman was apprehended stealing from the Meadowhall shopping centre in

Sheffield. The 33-year-old lady is believed to have stolen a high-value item and fled the scene, riding a mobility

scooter down Weedon Street, when officers were called to the scene at 12:25 p.m.

After a brief chase, police arrested the woman after ensuring she posed no threat to herself or other drivers and

returning the stolen goods. According to police, the woman acknowledged stealing the items, and they have stated

that any more enquiries will be handled outside of court.

“We received a call at 12:25 p.m. yesterday (Sunday, January 26) about a shoplifting report at Meadowhall shopping

centre,” a representative stated. According to the information provided, a 33-year-old lady grabbed valuable items

and fled the area while riding a mobility scooter down Weedon Street.
