Manager approves signing of Southampton defender – Player wants hefty signing on fee

According to a claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has given his approval to the club’s hierarchy to sign Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a transfer to the Super Lig leaders in recent weeks as they look to bring in a right back before next month’s transfer deadline. Super Lig clubs have until February 11th to get their transfer business done.

Since the departure of Serge Aurier in the summer, the right back spot has become a problem for them. Subsequently, Gala have been monitoring a number of right-side defenders in this transfer window.

Milliyet have reported on Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Southampton player, and they say the Premier League side are demanding an €8m transfer fee, despite his contract expiring in the summer.

It’s claimed Walker-Peters wants a signing-on-fee from the Istanbul giants, which is reported to be in the region of €3m. Cimbom are prepared to offer him a €2m annual salary.

However, Galatasaray should expect to face competition, with reports in the past week that Everton are in contact to sign him.
