It’s Dundee Utd vs Deadpool for Sam Dalby as firing striker faces choice admits Europe at Tannadice is catching his eye
In the summer, Sam Dalby must choose between the Hollywood stars at Wrexham and the prospect of traveling to Europe with Dundee United. The fiery hitman, however, is happy to remain in Tayside for the time being and says that choosing his next location can wait.
Although Dalby’s contract with Wrexham expires in the summer, a new deal is already being discussed. Dalby agreed to continue on loan at Jim Goodwin’s squad until the end of the season. The 25-year-old is still highly ranked by the Dragons – managed by Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McEhenney – but United are bang in the frame to qualify for Europe next season.
Dalby will hedge his bets for the time being, but he is glad to have options. “Yes, of course,” he replied. It’s certainly something that would be beneficial. However, at the moment, I’m not particularly focused on it. I’m simply trying to support my team and take each game as it comes. It goes without saying that Dundee United is a fantastic place to be, and I’m quite content here.
I’ll honestly state that I won’t give it any thought until the end of the season, once it’s over. We’re in a strong league position, so all I want to do is concentrate on each game to support my team and attempt to stay ahead of the competition.
Dalby was delighted to sort out his immediate future after relishing the first half of the season. He said: “The fans have welcomed me with open arms and the staff and fans and all the players have been really good to me. “So, yes, I’m happy to be here. I’ve tried not to think about it, but it’s something that probably, subconsciously, maybe I have. But, yes, I’m happy that I know I’m definitely staying here for the rest of the season and I can just focus on every game that we’re going into.”
Dalby scored the first goal in Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Rangers, putting him atop the Premiership scoring charts. On a day when we didn’t receive three points or even a single point, however, the hitman stated: “I don’t want to think about, I’m top scorer or scorer or something.” The most important thing is doing what you can for the team, not just scoring goals but all-round playing and everything.”
Dalby was gutted United couldn’t build on a promising start against Gers on Sunday. However, he stated: “The Rangers are a fantastic squad with a lot of talent on the team. There are undoubtedly some positive things we may learn from our experience.
