After the summer transfer window ended, the Denmark international signed with the Canaries as a free agent earlier in the season.
He has since established himself as a vital member of Johannes Hoff Thorup’s first team, which is aiming for a top six finish.
The 29-year-old has made 21 appearances in the Championship so far this season, contributing four goals and four assists, solidifying his position as a vital member of the Carrow Road furniture.
Emi Marcondes discusses Norwich City future
According to Marcondes, he wants to remain at Norwich after his current contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
Though the Norfolk team has the option to extend his present contract by another 12 months, he has indicated that negotiations are not yet beginning over a new agreement.
According to Pink Un, Marcondes stated, “I like to be here.”
Naturally, I would like to remain here for a longer amount of time, but with all these games, I’m not giving it much thought.
“It’s hopefully something that we can look into, but at the moment, I’m thinking about recovering, doing well and getting back out there on Saturday.”
Marcondes joined in October as an emergency signing, but has grown into becoming a key figure in Thorup’s first team plans.
Norwich City league position
Norwich are currently 11th in the Championship table, five points behind sixth place Middlesbrough after 29 games played each.
Thorup’s team closed the gap to the Teesside outfit last weekend with an emphatic 5-1 win over Swansea City, in which Marcondes bagged the closing goal of the game.
The victory ended a run of back-to-back losses, moving them ahead of QPR in the table.
Next up for the Canaries is a trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford on 1 February in a 12.30pm kick-off.
Keeping Emi Marcondes is a no-brainer for Norwich City
In light of the events leading up to his arrival, Marcondes has contributed significantly to Norwich.
Expectations were low when he signed in October, but he has since become one of the team’s top performers.
His contract should undoubtedly be extended by the Canaries by another year, and a new one that takes into account his importance may be necessary.
Thorup deserves recognition for fostering a positive environment within the team despite their performance peaks and valleys this season, and his contentment at Carrow Road is a wonderful development for the team.
