Firefighters rescue cat and dog from apartment blaze; man in custody for allegedly throwing rocks at responders

KSLA, Shreveport, Louisiana The Shreveport Fire Department responded to a fire at 3:04 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17.

The Jolie Apartments, located in the 1000 block of Quail Creek Road, were the scene of the event.

Heavy smoke was rising from the first floor of the two-story building as the first firefighters got on the site.

According to officials, a lower flat sustained significant damage from the fire. Firefighters eventually rescued the old man’s dog and cat after he managed to safely depart the building.

By 3:21 a.m., 32 combatants had managed to contain the fire.

There was smoke damage to four nearby apartments. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, and the entire amount of the damage has not yet been established.

Witnesses report seeing a man hurling rocks at responding firefighters, leading to his arrest.
