According to Football Insider, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wants to replace Kyogo Furuhashi with a similar player before the February 3 deadline.
The Hoops have confirmed the departure of the 30-year-old “icon” to Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais.
Furuhashi’s departure came as a surprise, but Celtic got an offer too good to refuse when the Japan international voiced his wish to leave.
Jota joined to Parkhead in a separate transfer, but it is believed the Hoops are looking to add another forward.
Meanwhile, Daizen Maeda might take on a major position when the Portuguese winger returned to the club.
Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden has been named as Rodgers’ main striker target following his strong play in Denmark.
Celtic manager Rodgers seeks like-for-like Kyogo replacement.
According to Football Insider, the 22-year-old is projected to cost roughly £10 million this month due to his club’s reluctance to let him go during the season.
Kvistgaarden has 14 goals and five assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for Brondby this season.
Celtic also have Adam Idah on their roster, and the Republic of Ireland international might become a regular starter following Kyogo’s departure.
