Michael Smith appears to be the club’s top target as Wrexham looks to add a striker this month. This transfer story

has seen a significant development.

Both Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer are not playing as well as they once did in front of goal, and Wrexham is finding it

difficult to replicate their past seasons’ output.

It has been widely rumoured for the past few weeks that Michael Smith could join Wrexham, and a move for the

Sheffield Wednesday forward is anticipated.

Although Sheffield Wednesday and Wrexham supporters have different opinions about Smith, it appears the Red

Dragons are continuing to show interest. But is there a real chance that a transition may occur right now?

Prior to the weekend, Michael Smith had missed the Owls’ last three games and not played a single minute. Despite

starting the game on the bench once more on Saturday, he came on in the second half and scored another goal to

increase his season total, helping Wednesday win 2-0.

One would think it would make it difficult for Wrexham to sign Smith. However, according to the most recent source

from The Star, the Red Dragons had recently approached Smith.

Smith is crucial to Sheffield Wednesday, though, therefore a deal is viewed as improbable this month. So far this

season, he has contributed 12 goals, or one every 101 minutes.

After the victory over QPR, Owls manager Danny Rohl, who had previously been evasive regarding Smith’s status,

made it apparent that he values the striker’s contribution to the squad, even though he is viewed more as an impact

substitute.
