Wolves and Aston Villa are engaged in a Disasi transfer battle while Chelsea considers

According to football.london, Wolves and Aston Villa are fighting for Chelsea’s Axel Disasi before the deadline next week.

Under Enzo Maresca, the 26-year-old defender has played a bit-part role this season, making just six appearances in the Premier League, four of which were from the start. Despite becoming a more consistent presence in the cup tournaments, Disasi has not been able to establish himself in Maresca’s plans due to performances that have drawn criticism from Chelsea supporters.

The French defender joined Chelsea in August 2023 for an estimated £40 million, but he has been linked to leaving this month in search of more consistent playing time elsewhere. According to sources who spoke to football.london, Disasi is currently weighing his options and is reportedly interested in joining two Premier League teams, Wolves and Villa. Chelsea is also in a similar situation.

According to football.london, Disasi joined the team about 18 months ago thanks in large part to co-sporting director Laurence Stewart. Prior to Chelsea’s acquisition of Disasi, Stewart served as AS Monaco’s technical and sporting director.

Actually, when Disasi was brought in from Reims, Stewart had just begun his tenure as sporting director of the Monegasque team.

Despite Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana’s injuries this month, Chelsea has been willing to let the defender go. To address the injury issues, the west Londoners did call up Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Whether Disasi will go on loan until the end of the season or depart Stamford Bridge permanently has not yet been decided. Nevertheless, considering Disasi’s difficulties wearing a Chelsea shirt this season, this move seems to have legs with seven days left in the January transfer window.
