Why Leeds United hold major title advantage over Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland

Daniel Farke has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal

Leeds United are the deserving front-runners in the four-horse fight for automatic promotion, and few would contest

that. If the Championship leaders win today at Burnley, they would go up to four points clear of Sheffield United,

who are now in second position.

Since the season began, Leeds and Burnley have only dropped five league games to one another. The Whites want to

extend their winning streak to 12 games in all competitions as they visit Turf Moor.

Will Daniel Farke’s winning squad, however, manage to get past the nation’s top defence? From 28 games, the

Clarets have amassed an incredible 19 clean sheets while giving up a pitiful nine goals.

However, the Whites have the best assault in the division and are the leading scorers in the Championship. The only

teams in Europe’s major leagues with more league goals than United (53) this season are La Liga powerhouses

Barcelona (59), Bayern Munich (58), and Liverpool (54).

Leeds had more shots (463) and shots on goal (160) than any other English Football League team prior to the

weekend’s round of games. As they attempt to get revenge for the 1-0 loss they suffered to Burnley at Elland Road in

September, their attacking production should be a major source of motivation.

Clarets head coach Scott Parker acknowledged that it was “a big game for us.” It’s really a big game for both teams. I

believe that everyone is aware of how important this Monday’s game is.

“There are two teams who have performed exceptionally well so far this year. The team we’re playing against has a

tremendously dynamic style of play and has likely been together for 18 months without making many significant

changes.

Daniel Farke will undoubtedly say the same thing about us. He is aware of the issues we may cause them, and the

game has all the makings of a great one.

“I believe the fine margins will characterise it. There is no doubt that the team that can clearly outperform those will win.
