Sky Sports: Ipswich Town Women: Game at Gwalia Utd called off at half-time.

Ipswich Town Women’s away game against Gwalia United was called off this afternoon due to a wet surface, with the Blues leading 2-0. Joe Sheehan’s side came into the game fresh off a courageous 3-0 FA Cup defeat against WSL side Manchester City two weeks prior. The Tractor Girls were comfortably ahead at halftime thanks to a brace from Sophie Peskett, but the match authorities judged the surface at the Newport Stadium unsuitable due to heavy rain throughout the first half. This is the second time this season that the Blues’ away encounter against Gwailia has been postponed. Their September match was called off prior to kickoff.

Town was on track to reclaim first place in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division rankings, as Hashtag United did not play today. The Blues return to action next Sunday as they travel to Watford’s Grosvenor Vale Stadium.
