Doctor View: Norwich player to pass Everton medical if needed, £7m+ bid reportedly made

Norwich midfielder Marcelino Nunez should have no issues clearing his medical at Everton if needed, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert thinks that, despite his hamstring injury at the end of 2024, he should not be regarded as a high-risk signing for the Toffees.
This comes after Liverpool made a £7.2 million approach for the Chilean midfielder, which was knocked down. [La Tercera, 3 January].

Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, told Goodison News exclusively that Nunez suffered a hamstring injury at the end of 2024, which kept him out for a month.

“Based on the chronology, this appears to be a Grade 2 injury out of 4.

As long as there aren’t any unforeseen outliers, wouldn’t expect any issues with his medical.

This is not a high risk signing either.

Everton could do with Marcelino Nunez’s quality in midfield

Idrissa Gueye

The Chilean international has been a regular in Norwich’s midfield, and at 24, he would inject some youth into the club’s ageing midfield.
He is also capable of finding the back of the net, having scored four goals this season, and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will make another bid.
Money is expected to be scarce during this transfer window, so this could be something they investigate in the summer.

In other Everton news, a right-back is “expected to pass his medical” as the Toffees consider a January move.
