Michael McIntyre’s Big Show: Peter Robinson stuns audience
In the popular comedy, Michael McIntyre’s Big production, a Blackburn guy has emerged as the unexpected star of
the production.
Due to his singing, which he does daily for his cherished wife Sandra after she was diagnosed with dementia, Peter
Robinson, 81, received a nomination for the show from his family.
It was reported that Peter’s singing brought his wife a lot of joy during his daily visits when she was in the hospice.
Peter’s performance astounded the audience. When McIntyre first presented Peter, he said, “Blackburn, Peter is 81
years old. 58 years of marriage to Sandra, a cherished wife. Hospice has been providing her with 24-hour care.
He has been going to see her every day, and each time he does so, he sings by her bed. His family is here tonight
because he enjoys singing.
After the big surprise, Peter revealed that he gets a lot of satisfaction from singing in the hospice and does his best to
make everyone there feel better.
Peter said: “My wife always loved my singing. She gave me 58 years of marriage, three daughters and I have known
her for 62 years since we first met on a blind date.
“I lean over her bed and I sing. You never lose your love for someone who you have been married to all those years,
that is all I can say.
“I just love singing why not use it for good. This song brings happiness to people, and I will give it my best and it will
come from the heart.”
When Peter, the captain of a Blackburn bowls team, travelled to London to get a new flat cap, the show’s producers
conned him into going into a fake bowls shop.
But in typical Big Show fashion, his experience did not live up to his expectations.
To Peter’s dismay, the shop assistant in this episode was adamant about showing him the new bowls bag they were
selling, complete with an umbrella and snack container.
